Film Raro is a film challenge like no other in the world. Its core objectives are to aid social and economic development in the south pacific through a global strategy of engagement with filmmakers and audiences from around the world.
To stimulate social and economic growth by building local capacity in a new high value sector – the film and television industry.
To foster international partnerships with governments, corporate and private sectors that have interests in the pacific such as NZ, Australia, Asia, Europe and the USA.
Film Raro increases the capacity for pacific peoples to create a voice for themselves in the audiovisual digital medium.
HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS MENTORED PACIFIC FILMMAKERS AT FILM RARO
The project has seen teams of professional filmmakers from all over the world journey to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands to work with locals and produce a series of short films, Hollywood producers the Stone Brothers, award-winning indigenous filmmaker Karin William, graduate film maker Erin Lau among others demonstrate the diverse range of film makers chosen to mentor locals.
